1. The result of greed.

Once a farmer lives in a village. He had a wonderful goose. The goose used to lay a golden egg everyday. The farmer would sell them in the market. So he was becoming rich day by day. But the farmer was very greedy.........

He thought that the belly of the goose was full of golden eggs. So he wanted to get all the eggs at a time in order to becoming rich overnight. One day he took his knife and cut the belly of the goose. But alas! There was no egg in the belly of the goose. The farmer became very sad. Thus he lost his valuable goose forever.

2. Even a little creature helps a big animal.

Once a lion was sleeping in a cave. A mouse was playing nearby. By chance he ran over the lion’s body. The lion woke up and he caught the mouse in anger and was about to killed him.............

The mouse confessed his guilt and begged mercy for that time. He further told the lion that he would pay back his kindness someday. The lion laughed at the mouse and let him go. One day the lion was caught in a trap. He began to roar loudly and tried to break away the trap. But failed. The mouse heard the lions roaring. He came to the spot and set the lion free by cutting the ropes of the net.

3. A fox without a tail.

Once upon a time there lived a clever fox in a jungle. One day while the fox was walking through the jungle. He fell in to trap. He got out of the trap but left his tail behind. Without tail the fox looked very strength. He felt sad............

One day he made a cunning plane. He called all the foxes in a meeting. When they came, He told all the foxes to cut there tails. There was an old fox in the meeting. He realized his trick and told the other foxes to realize it. Then the tailless fox ran away and went in another jungle. 

4. Ill News runs fast.

Rahim works in a big garments factory. There are more than five hundred workers in the factory. One day as usual she was busy at her work. Suddenly a sound came to her ear that there was a break out of fire from the short circuit. As ill news runs fast, the news spread very fast among the workers. But no one noticed whether there was actually any fire........

The workers left their jobs and began to run towards the gate. There was a single gate. All were trying to come out at a time. So there was a heavy rush at the gate. Many fell down and could not get up. As a result two workers died on the spot and some were seriously injured. However, later on it was discovered that there was no fire. At last the workers realized the result of their foolishness.

5. What is play to one, is death to another.

 

There was an old pond in a certain village. Many frogs lived there. They were living happily. One day some boys were passing by that pond. At that time the frog were swimming and croaking...........

The boys saw this and began to throw stones at them out of fun. The frogs were swimming here and there to avoid stones but they couldn’t. Some of them died and some were seriously injured.

At last an old frog raised its head and told the boys to stop their play. The boys replied they were doing it only for fun. The n old frog said, “What is play to you is death to us. “Hearing this boy felt ashamed and went away. 

6. A liar cowboy.

Once there lived a cow boy in a certain village. He used to tend his cows in a field near by a forest. Everyday going to the field, he would make a fun crying, “Tiger, Tiger, Tiger”............

The villagers rushed to the spot to help him. But they found no tiger there. At that time the boy would laugh. He made the same fun several time. At this the villagers became very angry.

One day a tiger came really the boy shouted for help. But this time no body came to help him. They thought that he was shouting only for fun. At last the tiger fell upon the boy and killed him.

7. A friend in need is a friend in deed.

Once two friends were walking through a forest. They were talking about there love for each other. Suddenly they saw a bear coming towards them...........

One of the friends climbed up a tree. But the other did not know how to climb up a tree. Finding no other way he lay down on the ground like a dead. The bear came and tested his nose and ears. Then the bear went away. Thinking him to be dead. Then the first friend climbed down from the tree and asked him, “What did the bear say to you”? He replied the bear said, “Do not trust a friend who lives his friends in time of danger”. Hearing this he felt ashamed and went away.

8.Graps are sour.

Once a fox became very hungry. He was passing throw a garden in search of fruits. Soon he saw a vineyard where ripe graps were hanging...........

The fox became very happy. But the graps were too high for him to reach. He made several attempts to get the graps but failed. He thought any other plan to have the grap. But he did not find anyway in reaching the graps. At last he left the place saying to himself, “Graps are sour.” 

9. The result of cutting down trees.

Once there lived a king in island. There were green trees everywhere in the island. Once the king decided to build a magnificent palace in the island. So he ordered his men to cut down all the trees. Some opposed the kings idea but he did not pay heed to there opposition. So people were compelled to carry out the king’s order. They cut down all the trees. As a result a great change took place in the climate of the island.........

The island turned into a desert. There was no rain. As a result crops did not grow well. Famine visited the land. People had to starve for days together. One day they went to the king and wanted food. But the king could not give them any food. At once stage day became very furious. They dragged the king from his thrown and killed him.

10. Unity is strength

Once there lived an old farmer lived in a village. He had four sons. They would quarrel always with each other. The farmer told them not quarrel. But they did not pay heed to their father’s words. So the farmer was unhappy..........

One day he made a plan. He called his sons and told them to bring some sticks and a piece of rope. They brought some sticks and rope. The farmer tied the sticks together in a bundle with the rope and told them to break it. They tried heart and soul but failed.

Then the farmer united the bundle and his wife gave one stick to each of the son. This time they broke the sticks easily. Then the farmer said to them, “Like the sticks, be together and nobody can harm you. “Remember that unity is strength.

11. Hidden treasure.

Once there lived an old farmer lived in a village. He had four sons. They were in the habit of leading a very idle life. They would never do any work. The farmer did not know how to make them work. So he was unhappy........

One day on his death bed, he hit upon a plane. He called his sons to his bed side and said, “My sons go to the field. I have laid a hidden treasure there. Dig the field and you will find it.”

The boys ran to the field at once. They dug all the field but found no treasure there. Then they said, “Since we have dug the field, we may plant some corn there.” So they planted the field with corn.

In dew time golden corn out came out and the sons became happy. They under stood then meaning of the hidden treasure of there father. From that time they began to work hard.

12. An act of generosity.

A poor girl named Rina worked in a rich man’s house. The house master was kind to her but the mistress was very cruel. She used to scold her now and then. One day while serving tea, Rina broke a cup of tea.......

The mistress of the house became very angry and beat her mercilessly. The master came to know the matter. He was moved. One of his friends had a big garments factory in Dhaka. One day he went to Dhaka with Rina and managed a job for her in his friend’s factory. Thus he saved Rina from the inhuman torture of his wife. 

13. Failure is the pillar of success.

Robert Bruce was a famous king. His kingdom was invaded by his enemies. He fought courageously but lost many battles. In order to save his life, he fled away from his kingdom and took shelter in a remote cave...........

The king was always in a pensive mood for his unhappy condition. Once he was lying in the cave. Suddenly he saw a spider trying hard to reach the ceiling of the cave. It failed again and again but did not lose heart. At last it became successful after many unsuccessful attempts. Seeing this, the king felt inspired to regain his kingdom. He then collected his soldiers and attacked his enemies again. This time his enemies were defeated and he regained his lost kingdom.

14. The ant and the Dove.

On a hot day an Ant was drinking water from a stream. Suddenly it fell into the stream and carried away by the tide. Just then a dove was sitting on the branch of a tree nearby.........

The dove felt pity to see the miserable condition of the ant. Then it broke off a leaf and dropped it on the water near the ant. The ant got on the leaf and saved its life.

Next day a dove hunter went to that place and aimed his arrow to shoot the dove. The ant saw this. It quickly went to the hunter and bit his leg. The hunter gave out a cry of pain and missed his aim. The dove flew away and was saved.

15. An honest wood cutter.

There lived a wood cutter in a village. One day he was cutting wood nearby a river. Suddenly his axe fell in to the river. The wood cutter did not know how to swim or drive. So he was sitting there sadly..........

Then a wonderful thing happened. The river goddess appeared before him. She asked him why he was crying. The wood cutter told her everything. The river goddess took pity on him. She went in to the river and came back with a “golden axe”. She asked him if it was his axe. The wood cutter replied in the negative. Then she again went in to the water and returned with a silver one. This time also the wood cutter refused to take it.

Finally she brought the axe of the wood cutter. The wood cutter was delighted to get back his iron axe. The river goddess became pleased with the wood cutter and gives him the two other valuable axes as reward. 

16. A sinner can not go unpunished.

Mr. Rahman is a custom officer. He was working at the Zia International air port. One night he was on duty. A flight arrived from Bangkok. He checked the baggers of some of the passengers and did not find any thing that broke the rules. At last only one passenger left.........

When he checked his bag, he found a big torch under the clothes. When he took it in his hand, the passenger felt uncomfortable. This made him suspicious. He unscrewed the bottom of the torch and found some gold bars in it. At that time the passenger was trembling with fear. Mr. Rahman handed the man to the police.

17. A Greedy dog

Once there was a greedy dog. One day he stole a piece of meat from farmer’s kitchen. Taking it in his mouth he started to run away from that place. On the way he had to cross a bridge across a stream..........

While walking ahead, he looked down and saw his own reflection in the water below. He thought it must be another dog with another piece of meat. He wished to have that piece of meet for himself. So he barked loudly. 

As soon as he opened his mouth, his own piece of meat dropped into the water from his mouth and washed away by the current of the stream. Thus the greedy dog lost his own piece of meat.

18. The result of greed.

Once there was a king called Midas. He was extremely fond of gold. Although he had a lot of it, he wanted more. He thought, if he had the golden touch, he would be the happiest man. A wise god granted his wish promptly. Half an hour later, as the king was sitting in his garden...........

Suddenly a ripe apple fell beside him. The king picked it up. As he touched it, the apple turned into gold. He could hardly believe his eyes. Then whatever he touched everything turned into gold.  When the king entered his palace, his little daughter ran up to him and he took her in his arms. Instantly she turned into gold. The king was struck with horror and felt sorry for his wish. Immediately the wise god took the golden touch away and the girl became human again. 

19. A true friend stands by his friend in

  weal and woe.

Mr. Ahamed has completed his graduation. He has not got any job yet. Some of his friends were in Dhaka. So he left Khulna and came to Dhaka with a great hope in mind that his friends would help him in getting a job.........

He stayed with one of his friends who were an officer in a bank. He received him cordially. He was very happy to see him. He bore his all expenses till he could manage a job for him. 

20. A brave boy.

One day a boy was going to school. Suddenly he saw smoke coming out of a house. He went there and saw a house on fire. Only a few women were running to and fro. They were crying “help, help.”.........

The boy thought there might be somebody in the house. He could not come out. The boy was very brave. He at once ran into the burning house and found an old woman there. The boy took her on his shoulders. He then came out running with her.

People saw it. They praised the boy highly and called him a brave boy. The Head master of the school heard it and congratulated the boy. 

21. The judgment of King Solomon.

During the reign of King Solomon, there were two women in his kingdom. One of them had a baby. But the other women claimed that baby. As a result there was a quarrel between them........

At last they went to the court of King Solomon. King Solomon was very wise. Finding the truth he could solve any problem. When he saw that none left the claim of the baby, he thought for a while. Then he ordered one of his men to cut the baby into two equal halves and gave one half to each of the woman.

Hearing this, the second women became very happy. She said, “I am agreed with the decision. Please give me my half.” But the first women started weeping. She said to the king. “Do not cut the baby. I do not need my share. Give the baby to her.”

The king understood the fact. He gave the baby to the first women and sent the second women to the prison.

22. A struggling woman

Marium is the daughter of a poor family. At the age of fifteen her parents gave her in marriage with a poor boy. He was very lazy. He does not do any work. So Marium had to work hard to support her family. But she was always anxious what will happen if she gives birth to a female child..........

Finally she gave birth to female child. Her husband became unhappy and began to behave rudely with Marium. At one stage she left her husband’s house and went to Dhaka with her daughter in search of work. There she took a job in a garments factory. Her daughter began to grow up. One day Marium came to know that Government had made education free for girls up to H.S.C. So she sent her daughter to school. Her daughter was a brilliant student. She made good results both in the S.S.C. and H.S.C. and became a primary school teacher. At last Marium began to see better days in her life. 

23. Who will bell the cat?

There lived many mice in a house. A cat also lived there. They were very afraid of the cat. They could not move about freely. One day they hit upon a plan to get rid of the cat..........

They held a meeting. It was decided that a bell should be tied round the neck of the cat. Then they would hear the sound of the cat’s coming and no more be killed by the cat.

There was an old mouse in the meeting. He stood up and said, “The decision is good but who will bell the cat?” Hearing this, the mice began to look at one another and felt disappointed. Finding no solution, the mice eventually migrated to another house that had no cat in it.

24. A clever crow.

One summer day a crow got very thirsty. It searched for water here and there. Suddenly it saw a jar at a little distance. It flew down to the jar. There was a little water at the bottom of the jar. But it was too law for the crow to reach...........

The crow tried to upset the jar but failed. So he crow was in a fix what to do. Suddenly it saw some stones lying beside the jar. 

The crow was very clever. A plan came to its mind. It picked up stones and dropped one after another into the jar. Then the level of the water began to rise and at one stage, water came to its reach. The crow drank water to its heart content and left the place happily.

25. Slow and steady wins the race.

Once a hare and a tortoise would live in a jungle. The tortoise was slow to run. So the hare always made fun of him. One day the hare invited the tortoise to a race. The tortoise agreed. All other animals of the jungle came to see the race.........

They selected a running track and a destination. Then they started their race. After running a while, the hare stopped and looked behind to see the tortoise. He saw that the tortoise was far behind from him. So he thought to take some rest.

Thinking so, he went under a tree and fell asleep. But the tortoise was moving slowly without stopping any place. After a short sleep, the hare woke up and began to run. But he was too late. By this time the tortoise reached the goal and won the race. 

26. Diving the cake.

Once two cats stole a piece of cake. They could not agree within themselves to divide the cake. Because of the fact that each of them wanted the larger share of it. They quarreled for sometime about this. At last one of the cats suggested going to the monkey who had a scale..........

So they went to the monkey to divide the cake properly. The monkey broke the cake into two pieces. But one part became larger than the other. Then he broke a portion of cake from the larger piece and ate that instantly. Then the second piece of cake became larger them the first piece. The monkey again broke a small portion of it and ate that also. He continued this method and the cake pieces became smaller gradually.

The cats understood the monkeys trick and told the monkey to stop that. The monkey stopped and claimed the rest of the cake as his charge. 

27. Fortune may smile upon at any time.

Rahim is a poor Rickshaw puller. He drives rickshaw in Dhaka. One day while driving rickshaw, he saw a man selling lottery tickets. He bought a ticket.........

He knew the date of the draw. So he was waiting eagerly for the day. At last the awaited date was arrived. He bought a news paper. Then he returned home and took it to ea nearby school teacher. The teacher gave him the greatest news of his life. It was that he won the first prize of the lottery. He could draw forty lakh taka. 

Hearing the news, he burst into tears. Then he thanked the Almighty and sat to decide how he uses the money properly.
